Spring Hill by Irvine

14.3% ABV Where to find: LCBO 632109

With regards to Australian Red wine, both the Barossa and Eden Valley areas are known for being able to produce some of the country’s most prestigious and most expensive wines – how lucky we are that Irvine (makers of this Spring Hill) doesn’t believe that good quality vino must cost a fortune. Deep ruby in colour, there is a lot going with this wine. Aroma’s of cherry, redcurrant, cranberry, plum, rose, graphite, mocha cedar and some butterscotch shine through, while the palate is equally complex. Cherry, plum, tobacco leaf, mint and warm spices all dance around your tongue. Despite the high alcohol level this is a well balanced, juicy and velvety soft wine and all for under $20. Buy multiple bottles, grill a well marbled rib steak, impress your fiends and most importantly, enjoy!
